Gary H. Lincoff   Pros: most comprehensive book on mushrooms

Cons: better books available

If you were ever interested in finding a book that had all the information regarding mushrooms in North American continent then National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms (National Audubon Society Field Guides) [UNABRIDGED] (Turtleback) by Gary H. Lincoff is the book for you. I was very keen to have this book from the day I saw this at my friend’s house. I am a regular mushroom hunter and am interested to get detailed information on the various species of mushrooms. This book provides all what I require with proper illustrations and description.

Apart from the general information provided in this book regarding mushrooms this book also gives details about edible and non edible mushrooms. This is a must have book for every avid mushroom hunter as with more than 700 mushrooms detailed with color photographs and descriptive text, this is the most comprehensive photographic field guide to the mushrooms of North America. The 762 full-color identification photographs show the mushrooms as they appear in natural habitats. This is an excellent book and a must have and read. Though there are better books available but still I would rather recommend this book.
